Mandalay Bay Deadly Mass Shooting
Sunday evening gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, unleashed a fury of rounds onto an estimated 22,000 concert goers at a Country music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
58 died in this horrific mass shooting, and over 500 were injured. This is being called the worst mass shooting in US history. Paddock killed himself when police arrived to his hotel room, and found an arsenal of automatic assault rifles with an abundance of rounds.
According to police the shooter had planned this attack, and news has surfaced that he may have even planned an escape. Paddock had positioned to cameras, one on the peep hole of the door, and another on a cart in the hall way as to see anyone approaching the room. He had broken two of the windows of the suite which gave him the best vantage points to the crowd. With what started to be a great showing of unity as the crowd sang ”God Bless America” along with Big and Rich, an hour later became a bloody nightmare.
Investigators are still trying to find a motive as to why Paddock would have committed such a heinous act, but have yet to find one. The FBI raided the two properties he owned, and found more weapons at both properties. Investigators were also searching for Paddocks girlfriend Marilou Danley, 62, who was sent to the Philippines two weeks earlier by Paddock, arrived in Las Vegas last night as a person of interest to be questioned on her knowledge of the attack, but she has stated that she knew nothing of what he was planning.
The authorities had also learned that Paddock had wired $100,000 to the Philippines within that time frame while she was there. As of now the authorities believe he was a lone shooter, even though eye witnesses claim to have heard shots being fired from multiple locations, and seeing muzzle flash from a lower floor from the hotel.
There was also eye witnesses that claim to have seen a woman yelling prior to the show starting that “they were all going to die tonight”. None have been confirmed by local authorities, and we await to hear more as the investigation goes on. President Trump had visited the wounded with First Lady Melania yesterday and had this to say “I just met some of the most amazing people, we met patients that were terribly wounded and the doctors, nurses all the people in the hospital have done a job that’s indescribable,”
